LisaNews Holiday 2005

Dear Friends...

Happy Holidays to all of you! I love this time of year, filled with all the best things in life — gratitude, grace, family, and love. And a special remembrance of all of our soldiers fighting so far from home, whose sacrifices permit us to enjoy this time together, in peace.

I give special thanks this holiday for my family and all of you, because your support and loyalty has permitted me to do so many things in life. I got to stay home and raise my child, my most rewarding and meaningful experience, to which nothing can compare. And I got to be an author, the culmination of a lifelong love for books and reading, nurtured by the most wonderful librarians and friends.

But before all that, I was a lawyer, motivated toward the profession by a desire to understand the nature of truth and justice, with a little of Perry Mason for good measure. This spring, my life will come full circle and I'll teach a course titled "Justice and Fiction," at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. It will be a fun and thoughtful mix of popular culture and the law, and I've included my main lecture in this newsletter. (Don't worry, no quizzes). I think you will enjoy it, because I've met so many of you at my book signings and know that you are intelligent, thoughtful, caring people — who also have a crush on Al Pacino.

But don't think I'm deserting the world of thrillers, folks. My new book, Dirty Blonde, the story of a woman judge with a secret sex life, will be out on March 14, 2006. The first chapter is up on the website, and between that and the lecture, you'll be overdosed on Scottoline. I am lucky enough to have seen some of my dreams come true. But they weren't realized without lots of help along the way. Thank you, my friends, for your loyalty and friendship every day. For this holiday season, my wish is that your dreams will come true, too.

Happy holidays and lots of blessings to you and your family. Dream on.

Love,
